Sapo's Mexican Cocina & Bar at 3033 Manchester Expressway, Columbus, Georgia.

Tried Sapo's for the first time this evening. Seemed like a good place to get hammered and eat chips with friends. Otherwise, no. Previous restaurant layout (multiple all but walled off rooms) poorly suited to a sports bar (seated in a booth across from bar but no clear line of sight to any TV). Chips were only good part of our two meals (both red and green salsas were watery and beyond bland). Beef burritos had plenty of shredded meat but desperately needed some type, any type, of seasoning. Menu warned that Burrito California came with fries inside (?!), but not that they made up 3/4 of the contents (along with maybe a tablespoon of cooked rice, a teaspoon of refried beans, just enough chicken to notice, and some type of bulk, bland, generic cheese sauce that soaked the fries and made most of them inedible). Twelve inch tortilla and its contents were apparently prepared separately and hurriedly joined just seconds before being presented; tortilla easily lifted to disgorge its unappetizing guts. Server got order right and food came in a timely manner, but she never asked how everything was, offered to refill drinks, or even attempted to sell us after dinner anything. Too much went wrong to do anything but eat what we could, pay/tip and leave. Taco Bell does "Mexican" food better.
